Job description

We are looking for a hands‑on R&D Process Specialist to further strengthen the R&D team of the Sputter Targets division. This is a shop floor driven role, focused on thermal spray equipment and processes, with exposure to other production technologies such as casting.

  • You are physically present on the shop floor, working closely with machines, processes, and production teams in an industrial environment.

  • You oversee and run all thermal spray equipment for R&D.

  • You participate in the design, development, and testing of new target materials, from lab scale to industrial scale.

  • You solve technical problems in the product development process in cooperation with the entire Sputter Targets department.

  • You create and maintain an optimal test and development environment, balancing R&D needs with production constraints.

  • You analyze, interpret and manage process data, translating it into concrete improvements.

  • You are responsible for the scale-up and industrialization of R&D processes.

  • You support the process engineer through technical input for production, debugging activities and continuous improvement of spraying processes.

  • You get to know the nuances and complexity of the sputtering world.

Requirements

  • You are a true hands‑on engineer who enjoys practical work, machines and industrial environments.

  • You like working with equipment, modifying it, improving it and understanding how it behaves in real production conditions.

  • You have a solid technical foundation, including practical knowledge of materials, mechanical properties and characterization techniques.

  • Experience with thermal spraying, material processing or industrial R&D is a plus, but not a must.

  • You either hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant technical field, or you have built up sufficient technical knowledge and expertise through relevant industrial experience.

  • You are analytical and solution‑oriented, especially when dealing with machine‑ and process‑related challenges.

  • You cope well with pressure, deadlines, changing priorities and shifting project goals.

  • You are dynamic, adaptable, pragmatic and a fast learner, willing to master spray technology quickly (on‑the‑job training is provided).

  • You can work autonomously and proactively, while remaining a strong team player.

  • You prefer practical work on the work floor over purely desk‑based work, while being capable of both when needed.

  • You are fluent in English.  Any other language is a plus.

  • You are open to occasional travel to other Soleras production sites.

Offer

  • An extensive training program and personal guidance through a mentorship program.

  • Enjoy fun extras such as after-work drinks and sports, summer barbecue, Christmas drinks, and so much more.

  • Thanks to our location near the highway, our company is easily accessible.

  • On top of the 20 standard vacation days, you receive an additional 12 compensation days per year.
